A former Hinsdale resident arrested in April in Minnesota was sentenced Dec. 11 to 30 days in jail, five years of probation and $889 in fees after pleading guilty to the felony charge of solicitation of a child or someone believed to be a child through electronic communication to engage in sexual conduct, according to Minnesota court records.
Derrick D. Willman, who lived at 502 N. Garfield Ave. at the time of his arrest, also must register as a predatory sex offender, attend a sex offender program and complete individual therapy with a therapist who specializes in addressing sexually abusive behaviors.
Prior to his arrest, Willman, now 57, had been communicating in an online chatroom with investigator Celeste Walz with the Central Minnesota Human Trafficking Task Force, who was posing as a 14-year-old girl, according to the complaint. Investigators know the chatroom as a place where teens are frequently solicited to engage in sexual conduct. He was arrested after arriving at a Minneapolis address where Walz had agreed to meet him.
According to the sentence, Willman also is prohibited from unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 18 unless approved by his therapist and possessing pornography and sexually explicit material and required to submit to polygraph tests as directed.
Willman and his wife sold their home in Hinsdale in September.
