Eva Evenhouse, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away at her home in Western Springs May 11, 2024.
Eva played tennis at the Salt Creek Racquet Club and belonged to three bridge groups. Back in the day she excelled at pottery and at quite a young age she was a talented oil painter. She loved to go to Mr. Kelly's with Donald to see her favorite jazz artists, like Oscar Peterson and The Modern Jazz Quartet. In later years Eva became an avid sports enthusiast, developing a fondness for watching tennis, the Chicago Cubs and especially basketball on TV. Eva knew all the players of her favorite teams by name and the coaches as well. Her children have wonderful memories of mom taking them to Chicago to experience all of the culture the city has to offer and also the wonderful sunny day trips to the dunes.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Donna Amerine, Cathy (John) Cornelius and David (the late Dhessie Dela Rama) Evenhouse; her grandchildren, Michael (Alison Lockett) Amerine, Robert Amerine, Jac (Sarah Suzuki) Cornelius, Joel (Nicole nee Noonan) Cornelius and Dana (Tomek Rabczak) Cornelius; and her great-grandchildren, Myla Amerine and Claire Eve Cornelius.
Burial is private at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook.
Brian Powell Funeral Directors of Hinsdale handled the arrangements.
