Hinsdale Village Board

Among other business at their meeting Tuesday, trustees:

• recognized Fire Chief John Giannelli, who is retiring tomorrow, April 5, after 32 years of service with the village. He joined the fire department in 1991 as a full-time firefighter. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2006, captain in 2012 and chief in 2016.

• awarded a construction contract to Schroeder Asphalt Services in an amount not to exceed $653,212 for the 2024 asphalt resurfacing program. Work will be done on Monroe Street from Sixth to Eighth, Fifth Street from Lincoln to Garfield, Quincy Street from North to Hickory, Bodin St. from south of Eighth to north of Ninth and the Veeck Park parking lot.

• approved an major adjustment to the exterior appearance and site plan for the new Normandy Remodeling location at 222 E. Ogden Ave. to allow changes to the rooftop mechanical unit screening. The applicant wants to change from one to three screened areas, with a reduced height of the panels.

• agreed to approve a temporary use permit and indemnification agreement to allow for outdoor seating through Oct. 31 at Casa Margarita, 25 E. Hinsdale Ave. Trustee plan to take an official vote at their April 16 meeting.
