Sarah Ann Welsford

Sarah Ann Welsford, 41, of Hinsdale passed away March 23, 2024.

Sarah was born in Lansing, Mich, in 1982 and spent most of her childhood in DeWitt, Mich., where she graduated from DeWitt High School in 2000. She went on to receive an undergraduate degree at Michigan State University and continued to support the university throughout her life. Inspired by her study-abroad experience in Australia, she made Sydney her home shortly thereafter and received a master's degree at University of New South Wales.

Sarah's sense of adventure and desire for a challenge led her to live in multiple locations across the globe. She proved that her tenacity and charm was universal, and she thrived in Sydney, London, New York and Chicago. Sarah and her husband, Matthew, placed roots in Hinsdale in 2019 and soon became a family of four.

She was an integral member of the community, participating in the Hinsdale Junior Woman's Club and supporting multiple philanthropic endeavors.

Sarah was fiercely driven and passionate about her career. She excelled in various roles within investment banking and consulting, where she developed an expertise in project management and led engagements for several multinational corporations. She looked forward to continuing her partner track at Ernst & Young.

While Sarah had traveled the world, there was no place she loved more than the lakes of Northern Michigan.

She will be remembered for her determination and strong will, which was beautifully balanced by her irresistible sense of humor, kindness and deep love for her family and friends – particularly her unwavering devotion to her children. She was truly one of a kind.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Matthew, and their two children, Caiden (almost 5) and Peyton (3), as well as her sister, Laura (Adam) Sparks, and parents Wallace and Sheryl Dutkowski.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Christ Church Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook, Ill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Visit http://www.sullivanfuneralhomehinsdale.com for further information.
