The Nazareth Academy football team won its second consecutive state title and fifth overall in the IHSA 5A championship game Nov. 25 in Normal. The team defeated Joliet Catholic Academy 38-20 in an exciting come-from-behind victory.

Hinsdale team members are sophomore lineman William Francis, sophomore defensive back/wide receiver Spencer Martin and freshman lineman Luke Injaychock.

The team finished the regular season 4-5 before beating Prairie Ridge (35-28), Glenbard South (42-0), Carmel (21-17) and St. Francis (38-31) in the playoffs.

The team also won the state championship in 2022, 2018, 2015 and 2014.

Hinsdale’s Kiran Amegadjie all earned first team All-Ivy recognition for the second time in his Yale University football career.

Amegadjie, a senior interior offensive lineman, was part of an offensive line that helped the Bulldogs win a share of the Ivy League title for the third straight season and finish second in the league in scoring offense at 29.9 points per game. Earlier this month the former Hinsdale Central standout announced his intention to enter next spring’s NFL Draft.
