STUDENTS MAKE ALL-STATE TEAMS

Jakobi Lange made the Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association All-State First Team and Matt Ruth made Honorable Mention All-State for their efforts on the Hinsdale Central boys volleyball team in the spring of 2023.

Lange also was First Team All-American for the American Volleyball Coaches Association. He is currently a freshman at University of Southern California, where he continues to pursue success on the volleyball court.

McClear bags another win

Hinsdale’s Mac McClear led the University of Iowa men’s golf team — and made Hawkeye history — in winning the ANF Fall Classic Sept. 5-6 at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside, Iowa. The fifth-year senior claimed his second consecutive victory at the tournament, shooting back-to-back 67s (5 under par) in the final two rounds and helping the team place second overall. McClear birdied eight of nine holes at one point, including a run of six in a row, and captured the title with three-day total of 204 (-12). And his six tournament wins overall as a Hawkeye ties the school record set in 1976. Teammate Josh Lundmark of Hinsdale tied for 34th place with a 225 (+9).

Mizzou runs on Revords

Hinsdale sisters McKenna and Reilly Revord helped their University of Missouri cross country team begin its 2023 season with a victory Sept. 1 in the Mizzou XC Opener.

Junior McKenna finished the 5K race in fourth with a time of 17:49.7, while Reilly, a graduate student, placed sixth with 17:59.2, contributing to the Tigers’ winning tally of 16 points.

SOCCER TEAM NETS HIGH GPA

The Hinsdale Central girls soccer team has earned the United Soccer Coaches High School Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2022-23 academic year.

To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. Central’s team earned a GPA pf 3.72.
