The ramp connecting northbound Interstate 294 to eastbound Ogden Avenue closed Tuesday night and will remain closed through October due to construction work.
The Illinois Tollway is investing $8.9 million to reconfigure the Ogden Avenue interchange to improve mobility and traffic flow for local drivers and tollway customers.
To accommodate the reconstruction and widening of the Central Tri-State Tollway, the interchange will be reconfigured from a cloverleaf design to a partial cloverleaf design. Ramps will be combined on the east side of I-294 to create one signalized ramp providing access to eastbound Ogden from northbound I-294 and access to northbound I-294 from westbound Ogden. On eastbound Ogden, a new left turn lane will provide access to northbound I-294 and the merge lane will be extended to provide vehicles exiting the Tollway additional distance to merge. The bridge over Ogden also will be repaired.
Up-to-date closure and detour information will be posted on the Tollway website at http://www.illinoistollway.com and in the Daily Construction Alert.
