Jean Griffiths, 81, a Hinsdale resident since 1954, passed away peacefully under hospice care at Edward-Elmhurst Hospital on May 3, 2023.
Jean or Tina, as she was affectionately known to family members and dear friends, was born in Chicago in 1942 to G. Findley and Marion W. Griffiths. She graduated from Hinsdale Township High School and Columbia College in Columbia, Mo. She also completed programs at Ray Vogue School of Design and Moser Secretarial School in Chicago, followed by a 26-year career with BMO Harris in Chicago.
Jean was an avid reader all her life and was especially devoted to the pets she cared for over the years. Genealogy was a favorite pastime, and she established and maintained many lasting friendships both at home and abroad. Her expertise in needlepoint resulted in many treasured keepsakes for family members and friends.
She excelled, too, at always remembering everyone's birthdays, anniversaries and special holidays with cards. Jean will be missed by all who knew her.
Jean is survived by her brothers, William H. (Sharon) Griffiths and Robert P. (Janet) Griffiths; and many nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Judith Griffiths Mattison; and her niece, Jennifer Mattison Seay.
Visitation is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at Adolf Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison St., Willowbrook.
A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Naperville Education Foundation, 203 W Hillside Road, Naperville, IL 60540; or the Griffiths-Mattison Memorial Scholarship online at http://www.nef203.org/how-to-help/donate.html (reference Griffiths Mattison Scholarship in comments).
