The Hinsdale Police Department announced that it made one DUI arrest and one arrest for driving with a suspended license during the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement period.

It also issued 16 speeding tickets and eight citations for other violations to the Illinois Vehicle Code. The motorist who was arrested for DUI was also charged with a felony obstruction of justice complaint.

“We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason — to save lives,” said Deputy Chief Thomas Lillie.

The department joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the campaign, which was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
