Jane Galley Walker, 79, of Clearwater, Fla., passed away Feb. 26, 2023, in New Orleans after struggling for decades with a variety of serious illnesses.
Jane grew up in Hinsdale and spent many summers at the Joy Camps in Wisconsin and Camp Green Cove in N.C., where she developed a deep and abiding love of nature. She was educated at Monticello Preparatory, The University of Wisconsin and Eastern Michigan University and enjoyed various careers as an educator, horticulturist and medical technician.
In her later years she relished the role of grandmother and shared her passions for travel, games, Harry Potter, and NY Yankee baseball with her family. She delighted in regular trips to Door County, Wis., Captiva Island, Fla., and annual spring training visits in Tampa with her son.
Jane was also an accomplished artist, having been recognized as a signature member of the Florida Watercolor Society in 2018. The animals which she so dearly loved often served as the subject matter for her paintings.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph Bostelman, Virginia Boose Galley and H. William Galley Jr.
She is survived by her son, Timothy (Jeanne) Walker; her grandsons, Raymond and Benjamin Walker; her brother, John (Carrie) Galley; and many cousins.
A graveside interment will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at Parkholm Cemetery, 2501 N. LaGrange Road, LaGrange Park.
