Meeting roundup

Hinsdale High School District 86 Board

Among other business at their Feb. 23 meeting, board members:

• listened to Superintendent Tammy Prentiss present a strategic plan milestone report, highlighting the district’s accomplishments and steps that remain.

In the fourth year of the five-year plan, the district has achieved 96 specific accomplishments in eight goal areas.

• approved the purchased of $1.05 million worth of classroom furniture for renovated spaces at Hinsdale Central, down from the $1.5 million anticipated expense, as some furniture is being reused

• reviewed a decision by Deb Kedrowski, the district’s Freedom of Information Act officer, not to post the response to FOIA request 1163 online. She said the response was provided within the letter, rather than through separate documents, and practice has been to not publish responsive letters on the log. She also said the issue of security was the basis of her decision. Board member Jeff Waters made a motion to override the decision, but it died without a second.
