Walter Wade Morrissey

Walter Wade Morrissey, 80, of Oak Brook, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away after a stoic and courageous fight with cancer Dec. 10, 2022.

Walter was a graduate of Fenwick High School and the University of Notre Dame. He received his juris doctor from DePaul University.

Until the day of his passing, Walter and partners spent more than 50 years passionately practicing law to advocate for clients, friends and family. He built trusting and committed relationships, and he meaningfully impacted all whom he met. He was particularly proud to serve as a trustee and Hall of Fame member at Fenwick High School. As a board member and past president of Butterfield Country Club, Walter worked tirelessly to ensure the success of a prosperous, family-driven community.

At his core, Walter was dedicated to his family. He loved spending time with Jane, his children, and his grandchildren. He treasured time with his siblings, as well as all his nieces and nephews.

Walter's family and friends respected his kind, sound judgment, and he was frequently relied upon for advice and counsel.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane Morrissey, nee Dowd; his children, Walter (Molly) Morrissey, M.D., Kathy (Tim) Siffermann, and Mary (Brian) Herbstritt; his grandchildren, Colin, Marty, Megan, and Maggie Morrissey, Jane, Jack and Charlie Siffermann and Judy, Brian and Teddy Herbstritt; his siblings, Suzanne Gaumond, John (Kathy and the late Aimee) Morrissey, Marilynn (Julius) Sparacino, M.D., Barbara (the late John) Kelly and Carol (John, M.D.) Showel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sister M. Rose Ellen (Morrissey).

Visitation is from 3 to 8 today, Dec. 15, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale.

Family and friends will meet for a 10 a.m. Mass Friday, Dec. 16, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 306 W. Fourth St., Hinsdale.

Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
