Thomas L. "Mickey" Ryan III, 83, of Oak Brook and Stuart, Fla., passed away peacefully Sept. 15, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Mickey was born in 1939 in Chicago. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mickey's exuberance and quiet generosity were his trademarks. He was an avid golfer and a fanatic of all things Notre Dame.
Mickey developed many strong friendships during his education at St. Barnabas, St. Ignatius, Notre Dame and New York University. Mickey was an active member and former president of Butterfield Country Club in Oak Brook. He was also a longstanding member of Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart, Florida.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and Thomas Ryan; his first wife, Regina "Gina" Coleman Ryan; his son, Matthew; his sisters, Joan and Susie; and his brothers, Richard "Dickie" and John "Jack."
He is survived by his brother, James Ryan (Kimberly); his sister, Kerry Ryan (Richard) Harpenau; his five children, Thomas Louis "T.L." (Lee), Michael (Linda), Beth Anne Ryan (Thomas) Wangelin; Allison, and Sean (Holly); and his 11 grandchildren, Sean, Maeve, Paddy, Colin, Thomas, Mickey, Kathryn, Beatrice, Lizzie, Gina and Nico.
Mickey is also survived by his wife of 24 years, Marie Grafft Ryan; and her seven children, Jacqueline (Nevin) Whitelaw, Jake (Eve) Paschen, Marie (Steve) DiPietro, the late J.B. Paschen, Jeanne (Patrick) Welch, Jayme (Pete) Marino and Marney (Brian) Orchard; and 19 grandchildren, Halle (Jack), Charlie, Lily, Jake, Ella, Margot, Kate, Jack W, Jack M, Ava, Patrick, Tess, Jane, Edie, Grady, Lucy, Chase and Danny.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 today, Sept. 19, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale.
Family and friends will gather for a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 306 W. Fourth St., Hinsdale. Interment is private.
