Among other business at their meeting Monday, board members:
• voted unanimously to join the Lincoln Way Area Affiliation of Participating School District Cooperative to help control insurance costs for the 2023 calendar year. Despite an initial $300,000 cost to join and a $200,000 set aside to run out current claims and an increase in premiums, the move will save the district $100,000.
• learned district enrollment this year is 3,608, down from 3,671 last year. Enrollment has been on a slight decline since 2013, when the district educated 4,012 students. The smallest grade level is kindergarten, with 281 students, and the largest is eighth grade, with 452 students.
• listened to a report about the district’s five summer programs. Seventy-one staff members taught 66 courses to 945 students.
