Agency Collects 453 Pounds of Food
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago is pleased to announce that the Hinsdale, Downers Grove and La Grange offices collected 453 pounds of nonperishable food items for the Downers Grove Area FISH Pantry in June during the firm’s all-company Community Kindness event. Each of the offices served as a drop-off location for agents, their clients and the public. During Community Kindness, held in conjunction with the firm’s Kindness Foundation, each of the company’s 24 offices select local organizations to support.
Downers Grove Area FISH Pantry is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that has served local communities since 1969. Their services include a food pantry, clothes closet, financial assistance and transportation. Although DuPage County is the second-richest county in Illinois, more than one in every 10 adults is projected to be food insecure (source: Impact DuPage).
“We would like to thank everyone who donated food items, volunteered time or contributed financially to make a difference for our neighbors in need,” said Terri Doney, vice president and managing broker of the firm’s Hinsdale, Downers Grove and La Grange offices. “FISH is an amazing organization and we were so pleased to be able to assist them this year during Community Kindness.”
Wellness House's Kilkus Retires
Wellness House has announced the retirement of Barb Kilkus, engagement coordinator, who has worked with the organization for the past eight years.
“Barb’s kindness, bright smile and genuine efforts to get to know participants, volunteers, staff and visitors have created a welcoming and hospitable environment and has helped to create the sense of safety and community that so many know at Wellness House,” said Ellen Nieman, education, engagement and evaluation manager at Wellness House.
In addition to working at the front desk, Kilkus worked behind the scenes on a variety of tasks, bringing her lighthearted sense of fun and love of music, books and people to her work.
“While we are all sad to see her go, we are excited for the opportunities Barb will now have to embrace and enjoy life without a work schedule,” Nieman said.
