Increase in COVID-19 cases is slowing slightly in town

Twenty Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 19 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported one new case.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 1,793, up from 1,773 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital had eight confirmed COVID-19 patients and one patient awaiting test results on Wednesday, a spokesman said.

Community Consolidated District 181 reported two new cases from May 12-18, both of which involved students.

Hinsdale High School District 86 reported six current positive cases May 14, with 33 people in isolation and 43 in quarantine.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 3.8 percent on Sunday, compared to 4.3 percent a week prior.

Illinois has administered about 10.6 million doses of vaccines. An average of about 62,884 vaccines are being administered daily, compared to about 83,900 last week. About 45 percent of DuPage County residents are fully vaccinated.
