When did you start bowling competitively?

Junior year. I was inspired by my dad because he really urged me to do bowling, and he's a really good bowler. At one point he was semi-pro, and he said, "You should learn from me."

What do you enjoy about the sport?

I enjoy it because it's a laid-back, relaxed sport. We're all friends, almost like family, because the team is really small.

How have you improved over the last two years?

I think I've definitely improved this year, and I've seen a lot of growth in my mental game, You've just got to overcome that mental barrier and give yourself positive reinforcement and keep a positive mindset, so that if one bad thing happens and it doesn't become like a domino effect.

How would your teammates describe you?

Probably as a easy-going guy. I try to help out when I can, like giving teammates a ride if anyone needs one. If someone's having a tough game I just try to be encouraging and cheer him up.

What's your goal for the season?

I'd like to break 200. My personal high score is 198.

Do you participate in other Central activities?

My main sport has been track and field. I'm also in marching band and a lot of extracurricular clubs including Ambassadors Club, Filipino Club and Badminton Club.

What do you like do when you have free time?

I just love to take naps. It helps me relax from the stress of balancing school, sports and extracurricular activities.

What do you plan to study in college?

C omputer engineering.

What advice would you give to a struggling bowler?

Patience is the biggest thing you need. You will not see results right away, If you're not patient, you'll just end up quitting because you'll get discouraged. It's important to stick with it.

What's on your Christmas wish list?

Just clothes. I'm trying to get more into fashion.

Why does head coach Alex Hipskind like having Villanueva on the squad?

He's extremely committed to the team and it constantly striving to be better every day.
