Mary Seaton Martin, 88, passed away peacefully at her Burr Ridge home Dec. 4, 2024.
Mary was a 1954 graduate of Hinsdale Township High School (now Hinsdale Central) and of Iowa State University. She lived most of her life in Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills and Burr Ridge.
Mary was an avid reader, dog lover and very accomplished at the piano (she could play and sing any college fight song). She was known for her dry wit, unapologetically being herself, her goofy, playful side and a great sense of curiosity about the world and others. Additionally, she was a long-standing member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard J. Martin; her children, Julia M. (Jeffrey) Bacigalupo, James K. (Jane C.) Martin and William L. Martin; her grandchildren, Allison L. Driscoll, Lauren E. (Brian C.) Lehner, Michael J. Driscoll, Robert C. Martin, Scott L. Martin and Anne L. Martin; and her brother, James M. Seaton.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert L. Seaton; and her parents, George L. and Mildred I. Seaton.
Services and interment are private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org or King-Bruwaert House at http://www.kingbruwaert.org.
