HOSPITALS EARN TOP SAFETY GRADES
Three UChicago Medicine AdventHealth hospitals have earned top safety grades from The Leapfrog Group for their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, infections and other patient harm.
The hospitals in Hinsdale, Bolingbrook and La Grange all earned “A”s in the fall 2024 edition of The Leapfrog Group’s semiannual Hospital Safety Grade report, ranking among the safest hospitals in the nation.
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale and La Grange have earned “A”s for 23 consecutive grading periods, beginning in 2013.
“This achievement reflects our team members’ strong commitment to delivering the highest-quality whole-person care,” said Dr. Monica Reed, president and chief executive officer of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth. “While delivering care that addresses patients’ physical, mental and spiritual needs, our medical professionals have adopted the latest best practices for ensuring patient safety.
“They also have implemented systems for monitoring the impact of these practices and fine-tuning them whenever necessary.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog, assigns a grade of “A”to “F” to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems that hospitals have implemented to prevent patient harm.
Earning an “A” grade is a significant accomplishment and reflects enormous dedication to patients, said Leah Binder, president and chief executive officer of The Leapfrog Group.
“I extend my congratulations to your leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first,” Binder said.
