Janet Gardner Fleming, 71, of Norwood, N.C., formerly of LaGrange Park, passed away Nov. 20, 2024 at her home.
Janet was born in Hendersonville, N.C. in 1953. She spent a majority of her working life as a retirement planner, and then retired in marketing, working for Summit Marketing.
After relocating to Norwood in July of 2019, she was very active in the local community, having served as president of the Community Service League, treasurer of a book club and in several canasta groups. She participated in many programs including meal deliveries. Janet was also an active participant with the Norwood Lions Club.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Michael Fleming, formerly of Hinsdale; her two step-children, Scott (Kelli) Fleming and Kristen (Keith) Newhouse of Hinsdale, and three step-grandchildren, Bennet Fleming, Reese Fleming and Harrison Newhouse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Barté Frix Gardner; and her brother, Charles Gardner.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
