David Barenberg

David Barenberg, 82, a longtime Hinsdale resident, passed away Aug. 2, 2024.

David was born in 1942 to Isadore and Emilie Barenberg in Chicago. At a young age, David's family moved to Michigan City, Ind., where he attended Marsh Grade School and graduated from Elston High School. He received a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and a master's degree from the University of Illinois.

David and Carolyn (nee Markl) married in 1977, moved to Hinsdale and made it their forever home. In 1985, they welcomed their daughter Amy.

David and Carolyn enjoyed 47 loving years together, dancing Tango at University of Chicago and Northwestern University Tango Clubs, participating in cooking and art lessons and attending car shows. David was also a collector of old Lionel Trains and old Retina German Cameras.

After college David began his sales career working at Xerox for 11 years and then joined Coldwell Banker Commercial Sales in 1979. In 1992, David started his own company, Barcorp Commercial Real Estate Company.

David was a member of the Congregation Etz Chaim in Lombard.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; and his daughter, Amy.

Visitation is at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison St. Willowbrook.

A service will follow at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m.

Interment is at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, Ind.
