Letter - Gallo, Greenspan will get D86 back on right track

I am writing to express my enthusiastic support for Kay Gallo and Catherine Greenspon, who are running for the District 86 school board. Our community is fortunate to have two such highly qualified, intelligent and effective individuals willing to serve on the Board. Kay and Cat will play key roles in restoring stability to the district, reversing downward-trending academic performance and returning transparency to administration decision-making and board governance. Both are strongly committed to re-invigorating the district’s tradition of excellence.

Having lived in Hinsdale for over 30 years, I can state that Kay may be the most qualified candidate to ever run for the D86 Board. She served on the board from 2009 to 2017, and was the president for her last two years. Kay “knows the ropes” and has demonstrated a collaborative and inclusive approach that is essential for building a strong and effective new board.

I have come to know Cat Greenspon, who has regularly attended and participated in board meetings. She is thoughtful and articulate, has been active in many substantive volunteer roles at Hinsdale Central and has relevant board experience with the Museum of Science and Industry and the Chicago YWCA.

Kay and Cat will engage with students, parents, teachers, taxpayers and fellow board members in an open and transparent manner. Both are strongly committed to recruiting a new superintendent, developing measurable performance goals, exercising financial stewardship and providing wise strategic oversight.

I wholeheartedly endorse Kay and Cat and encourage voters to visit their respective websites. — Dale E. Kleber, Hinsdale
