Among other business Nov. 17, board members:

• voted 7-0 to approve a resolution estimating the 2022 corporate and special purposes property tax levy at $94.9 million, a 5.8 percent increase over last year. The board will hold a public hearing on the levy at its Thursday, Dec. 15, meeting.

• had a first look at the staffing framework for the 2023-24 school year from Cheryl Moore, assistant superintendent of human resources. The district has been notified that 39 teachers are planning to retire in 2025 and 2026. Moore said she would like the board to agree to a framework in December, as it will guide scheduling and staffing decisions that need to be made early next year.

• learned the finance committee discussed extending the contract with busing company First Student. Despite a 26.5 percent rate hike for busing and 19.3 percent for special education transport, the cost is still lower than what other companies are charging, committee Chairwoman Debbie Levinthal said.
