D181 NAMES NEW ADMINISTRATOR

Nick Shepkowski will be the new director of communications in Community Consolidated Elementary District 181 effective July 1.

The school board approved his appointment June 20.

Shepkowski has significant experience in content creation, both in school communications and in radio and television. He comes from Park Ridge-Niles Elementary District 64, where he oversaw all communications, social media and the website for the district.

“Throughout the interview process, we were impressed by Mr. Shepkowski’s wide skill set in communications and his excellent interpersonal skills,” said Superintendent Hector Garcia. “He has deep experience in TV, video and radio that will enhance our communications efforts and serve our community well.”

Shepkowski is looking forward to his new post.

“I’m honored and excited to be joining one of the most impressive school districts in Illinois,” he said. “There are tremendous things happening across District 181 daily, and I look forward to sharing the stories of our achievements with the community.”

In addition to serving as communications coordinator in District 64, Shepkowski has been a managing editor at Gannett Media/USA Today and an executive producer and host at CBS Radio/Entercom Chicago, working in a variety of roles including reporter, producer host and analyst. He also has been a contributor at NBC Sports Network and holds a communications degree from North Central College.

Shepkowski succeeds Jamie Lavigueur who resigned in April to take a post as director of strategic communications at St. Francis High School in Wheaton. He will earn $85,000 his first year.
