Community Consolidated District 181 Board
Among other business Monday night, board members:
• approved a tentative budget for fiscal year 2023 to be placed on public display. The spending plan anticipates $80 million in revenue and almost $81.7 million in expenses, with the difference to be made up from the district’s fund balance of about $44 million.
The biggest source of revenue, at almost $75.5 million, is local property taxes, with salary and benefits at almost $55.6 million as the largest expense. Anticipated costs include $5.5 million for a new district office, $2.7 million for annual capital project, $800,000 for technology and $600,000 for book adoption. The district also plans to abate $5.9 million to taxpayers.
The board will hold a public hearing on the budget at its June 20 meeting, with its possible approval also scheduled.
• listened to a report from Tracey Miller, director of assessment, instruction and evaluation, indicating that District 181 students generally outperform their peers at Hinsdale Central High School as measured by standardized tests and course grades.
• accepted a $60,000 gift from the Elm School PTO for the building budget and $8,184 from the District 181 Foundation for the Tech Ambassador Program.
