Increase in COVID-19 cases holding steady

Fifty-three Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week. The DuPage County Health Department reported 44 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported nine new cases.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 3,819, compared to 3,766 last week.

AdventHealth Hinsdale is no longer reporting on cases.

Hinsdale High School District 86 reported 17 positive cases as of April 29, including five staff members, seven students at Central and five students at South.

Community Consolidated School District 181 reported 62 cases April 27 to May 3, involving 48 students, seven teachers and seven staff members.

As of April 11, the Illinois Public Health Department is no longer updating the rolling seven-day positivity rate. The last report was 3.8 percent on April 3.

Now the state is reporting the number of cases per 100,000 population, which was 51.9 on May 4 in DuPage County, compared to 36.7 on April 27. The transmission level remains at medium.
