Police beat

Hinsdale police distributed the following reports Feb. 8.

DUI arrest

Chestine Gajos, 60, 603 Yosemite Ave., Naperville, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use at 12:45 a.m. Feb. 5 at Route 83 and Chicago Avenue. Gajos was charged and released to appear in court.

Leaving the scene arrest

Adelmar Huerta-Avila, 25, 5229 W. 23rd St., Cicero, was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to report accident to police at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at Ogden Avenue and Washington Street. She drove away from the scene after the other driver involved in the crash called police. She was cited and released to appear in court.

Drivers cited for license violations

• Eli Lopez, 21, 2082 N. 19th Ave., Melrose Park, was arrested for driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle and expired registration at 7:39 p.m. Feb. 6 at Route 83 and Ogden Avenue. He was cited and released to appear in court.

• Amirabella B. Skaria, 19, 136 Fuller Road, Hinsdale, was arrested for driving with a suspended license, speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle at 11:39 p.m. Feb. 6 at Ogden Avenue and Interstate 294. Skaria, who had an active arrest warrant out of DuPage County, was cited, posted bond on the warrant and released to appear in court.

Cigarettes stolen

Someone stole a carton of cigarettes worth $100.27 from the Hinsdale Food Mart, 5827 S. Madison St., and drove off in a dark-colored SUV at 3:51 p.m. Feb. 5.

Wallet taken from shopper

A wallet was stolen from a purse while the victim was shopping at Whole Foods, 500 E. Ogden Ave., between 5 and 6 p.m. Feb. 5. Credit cards in the wallet were reportedly used to make fraudulent purchases.

Identity theft

Someone attempted to use the information of a resident of the 800 block of South Oak Street to make a retail purchase of more than $2,000 at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 6.
