Almost 100 new cases in Hinsdale this week

Ninety-nine Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 95 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported four new cases.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 2,459, compared to 2,360 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital had 21 confirmed COVID-19 patients and no patients awaiting test results as of Tuesday, a spokeswoman said.

Hinsdale Central High School reported 19 positive cases, 22 in isolation and 15 in quarantine as of Dec. 17. Vaccination rates are 81 percent for Central students and 95 percent for Hinsdale High School District 86 staff.

In Community Consolidated Elementary District 181, 10 positive cases were reported Dec. 16-17, involving eight students and two teachers. The district had seven students in quarantine as of Dec. 17, the last day before students went on winter break. The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 7.7 percent on Dec. 18, compared to 6.3 percent the previous week.

Illinois has administered almost 18.7 million doses of vaccines. An average of 65,165 doses are being administered daily, compared to about 68,908 last week.

The percentage of individuals fully vaccinated is almost 70.1 percent in DuPage County and about 73 percent in the 60521 ZIP code.
