Jang Suk "John" Chae

Jang Suk "John" Chae died Nov. 21, 2021.

John brought his family from Seoul, Korea, in 1970 and owned several camera stores and dry cleaning businesses before finally retiring at the age of 67. He was faithful to his church, loved and prayed daily for his family and enjoyed gardening.

John was a long time resident of Westmont before he and Grace moved to Lindale, Texas, where he created a beautiful rose garden that he called the 'Garden of Eden'.

He also loved riding around his gated community on his motorized scooter.

He is survived by his wife, Un Ja "Grace;" his children, Soo Un (Gil Young), David (Karen), Soo Yul (Nancy), Zani (Jeff Cerny) and Susan (Joe Corcoran); his grandchildren, Samuel (Beth), Daniel (Jodi), Sarah (Zechariah Chiang), Abraham (Mandy), Johnny (Traci), Abigail, Ruth, Alison, Austin, Adam, Jacob, Halie and Ryan; and his great-grandchildren, Weston, Claire, Hallie, McKenna, Everly, Haddon and Ahava.

Visitation is Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at Smith Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy, Palatine, from 2 to 5 p.m. for English speaking visitors and from 5 to 7 p.m. for Korean speaking visitors.
