GUTMAN is PLAYOFF-BOUND

The New York Red Bulls have earned a Major League Soccer playoff berth thanks to an improbable late season run, with starting defender and Hinsdale native Andrew Gutman playing an instrumental role. On Oct. 2 Gutman scored the only goal in the Red Bulls 1-0 win at FC Cincinnati. In the following match against visiting Inter Miami, Gutman provided the assist in New York’s 1-0 victory. The contributions earned Gutman MLS Team of the Week honors and were pivotal in helping New York post seven wins, three ties and only one loss in the franchise’s last 11 regular season games to capture the seventh and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

The Red Bulls will play at Philadelphia in their first-round match at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, which will be nationally televised on Univision.
