Augustyn M. Gesior

Augustyn M. Gesior, 95, a 60-year resident of Clarendon Hills, died Sept. 2, 2021.

Gus, as he liked to be called, grew up in Budki, a small farm village in Poland. He survived World War II at a work camp in Germany. After the war he attended the Polish Technical College in Esslingen, Germany, where he developed many long lasting friendships.

He immigrated to the US through Texas and shortly thereafter was drafted and served in the Army 1st Calvary Division in the Korean Conflict. He met his wife-to-be at the show “Love is Strictly Forbidden” in Chicago, where they were later wed.

He attended IIT in mechanical engineering. At International Harvester, where he worked for 28 years, he was an implement design engineer and earned several patents. He enjoyed dancing, wood working, gardening, tinkering and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa S. Gesior, nee Jerzyk; his children, Eli (Doug) Patejunas, Roman (Cheryl) and Joe (Anne); his grandchildren, Ralph, Andy (Sarah), Luke, Felicia, Maria, Brendon, Adam, Katie, Eric, Julia and Mark; and his sister, Teresa Stolz.

He was preceded in death by his son, George (Cathy) Gesior; and his siblings, Bruno, Emilia, Michal, Stanislaw and Kazik.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St., Downers Grove.

A funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Notre Dame Church, 64 Norfolk Ave., Clarendon Hills. Interment is at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
