Rise in COVID cases in Hinsdale slows slightly

Sixteen new Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 14 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported two new cases.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 1,952, compared to 1,936 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital had 12 confirmed COVID-19 patients and no patients awaiting test results as of Wednesday, a spokesman said.

Hinsdale High School District 86, reported 14 positive cases, 35 in isolation and 11 in quarantine as of Sept. 3. Vaccination rates are almost 62 percent for students at Hinsdale Central and 93 percent for D86 staff.

In Community Consolidated Elementary District 181, five positive cases were reported Sept. 1-7. They involve four students and one staff member.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 4.8 percent on Saturday, compared to 5.6 percent a week prior.

Illinois has administered almost 14.1 million doses of vaccines. An average of 23,613 doses are being administered daily, compared to about 39,802 last week.

More than 63 percent of DuPage County residents are fully vaccinated.
