Rise in COVID-19 cases holds steady in village

Twenty-one new Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 20 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported one new case.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 1,915, compared to 1,894 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital had 12 confirmed COVID-19 patient and one patient awaiting test results as of Wednesday, a spokesman said.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 5.9 percent on Saturday, compared to 6 percent a week prior.

Illinois has administered more than 13.8 million doses of vaccines. An average of 23,821 doses are being administered daily, compared to about 39,011 last week.

More than 62 percent of DuPage County residents are fully vaccinated. In the 60521 ZIP code, almost 69 percent of residents have had one shot and more than 64 percent are fully vaccinated.
