Robert N. Reiland

Robert “Bob” N. Reiland of Clarendon Hills passed away Aug. 11, 2021.

Bob’s brain cancer was incurable, but he battled it with determination, grace and positivity.

His career included positions at The Fourth District Illinois Appellate Court, Illinois State Commerce Commission, Chapman and Cutler Law Firm, Illinois Bell and Ameritech. Bob also worked at Motorola and Nokia, where he traveled internationally and appreciated the opportunity to meet clients and customers from all corners of the globe. In 2015 he retired as vice president and general counsel of SAC Wireless.

In Clarendon Hills Bob was proud to serve as chairman of the zoning board as well as a term on the village board. At The Morton Arboretum he was a member of the board of advisors, treasuring his opportunity to support its mission, research and educational programs. He was a longtime active member of Union Church of Hinsdale where he served as chairman of the trustees and the endowment fund, as well as being on the executive council.

Bob was a passionate golfer known for his declaration of, “I love this game!” after hitting a particularly satisfying shot. He cherished his many travels with his wife. Bob had a deep appreciation for The Morton Arboretum, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Art Institute.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; and his sister-in-law, Eloise Hirschey.
