Jeanette Ann Hilsabeck, née Miller, 97, a longtime Hinsdale resident, died at Oak Trace Health Center in Downers Grove on Aug. 6, 2021.

She was born in 1924 in Independence, Iowa, to her Rodney and Ella Miller, née Arnold. Jeanette graduated from Coe College with a degree in music in 1945 and married Robert "Bob" Burke Hilsabeck shortly after he graduated from the United States Naval Academy.

In 1956 they settled in Hinsdale, where Jeanette used her beautiful soprano voice in choirs and taught voice lessons. She sewed wonderful quilts for her children and grandchildren, created delicious meals for family and friends, served as a faithful PEO sister and was a longtime member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Clarendon Hills.

Mrs. Hilsabeck is survived by her sons, Lee (Ellen) Hilsabeck, Steve (Alison) Hilsabeck and Rick (Sarah Pfisterer); her six grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marie Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.

Mrs. Hilsabeck will be interred in a private ceremony at the Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien. An outdoor memorial service will be held at a date to be determined in October.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be online to the PEO Star Scholarship at https://donations.peointernational.org or the Coe College Friends of Music at https://www.coe.edu.

Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
