Police beat

Hinsdale police distributed the following reports March 11 and 16.

DUI arrests

• Gregory M. Kentra, 46, 5701 S. Grant St., Hinsdale, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to yield at a crosswalk and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after police responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at 9:09 p.m. March 11 at Madison and 57th Streets. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment. Kentra was charged and released to appear in court.

• Svetlozar Kolev, 22, 149 Hempstead Drive, Bloomingdale, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding 35+ mph over the limit at 11:41 p.m. March 13 at York Road and Ogden Avenue. He was charged and released to appear in court.

• Issac Castaneda Huitz, 28, 7651 62nd Place, Summit, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol content higher than .08, possession of open alcohol, driving without a valid license and improper lane use at 9:29 p.m. March 14 at Route 83 and Ogden Avenue. He was charged and released to appear in court.

Tracking device arrest

Bing R. Apitz, 78, 2223 Shiloh Drive, Long Grove, was arrested on a misdemeanor count of unlawful use of a traffic device following an incident at 10:25 a.m. Feb. 22 in the parking lot at 911 N. Elm St.

Police were dispatched to a report of a suspect laying on the ground underneath a parked vehicle and notified the owner, who discovered an unauthorized electronic tracking device. Witnesses provided descriptions of the suspect and the vehicle he left in. An arrest warrant was obtained on Feb. 26 and served by the DuPage County Sheriff March 8.

Apitz posted bond and was released to appear in court.

Identify theft arrest

Carrie Lyyn Srivongxay Carmichael, 29, 4400 N. Oriole Ave., Norridge, was arrested for felony attempted identity theft ($10,001 to $99,999) and felony attempted theft — unauthorized control with intent ($10,001 to $99,999) in connection to a Feb. 1-2 incident.

The suspect was found with fraudulent identification with the information of a resident of the 300 block of Claymoor Road while in the custody of Glencoe police. The suspect purchased a Honda CR-V for $23,318 using the victim’s identity. An arrest warrant was obtained and the suspect was arrested March 3. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Obstructing identification arrest

Jenniyah L. Kemp, 20, 4116 Arthington B, Chicago, was arrested for misdemeanor obstructing identification at 2:35 a.m. March 4 at Route 83 and 55th Street. She gave a false name to police when the vehicle in which she was a passenger was stopped for an equipment violation. Police discovered she had an arrest warrant out of DuPage County. She posted bond and was released to appear in court. The driver was issued a warning for the equipment violation.

Arrest for suspended license

Jorge Luis Manjarrez-Martinez, 27, 1S143 Ingersoll Lane, Villa Park, was arrested for driving with a suspended license, speeding and driving an uninsured motor vehicle at 7:21 p.m. March 11 at Route 83 and Chicago Avenue. He was charged and released to appear in court.

Forgery reported

A man reported receiving $750 in counterfeit bills March 2 in the Chicago Avenue parking lot in exchange for a Play Station 5 he had posted on an online marketplace.

Hit and run reported

A vehicle was hit and sustained damage to the rear driver’s side fender while parked on Bob O Link Drive near Whole Foods between 3:30 and 9:30 p.m. March 11.

School property damaged

Some damaged multiple pictures and plexiglass at Safety Village at Oak School, 950 S. Oak St., between Sept. 1 and March 8. A damage estimate was not available at the time of the report.

Vehicle scratched

The passenger side of a vehicle was scratched while parked in the parking deck in the 100 block of South Garfield Avenue between 5:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. March 12.

Identity theft reported

Someone opened a credit card account using information belonging to a resident of the 400 block of North Bruner Street on Feb. 15. No fraudulent purchases were reported. The victim, who received notice of two additional attempts to open credit cards that were denied, contacted police March 2.
