Peter D. Cook, 85, of Downers Grove, a former longtime Hinsdale resident, passed away peacefully Feb. 24, 2021.

Peter was born in 1935, in Chicago to Junius Ford Jr. and Barbara (nee Jacobus) Cook. He grew up in Hinsdale and graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1953. Following graduation, Peter attended the University of Colorado, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, discovered the joy of skiing, and met Beverly Ann Pollard of Topeka, Kan., who would become his bride in 1958.

Peter's storied career included time spent at LaSalle National Bank, the National Association of Realtors and American Flyers, just to name a few. His pastimes included bridge with friends, reading books, playing Spider Solitaire and watching sports and scary movies. He loved his church and was a very active member. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and celebrating holiday traditions.

He is survived by his children, Courtenay Cook and Darcy Cook; his granddaughter, Hannah Ovcharchyn; and his sister, Catherine Powell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly nee Pollard; and his brother, Terry Cook.

Peter will be interred with his wife Beverly at Grace Episcopal Church in Hinsdale.

A private memorial service will be held at the church, 120 E. First St., at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20. The service will also be live-streamed via the Grace Church website at http://www.gracehinsdale.org.

Brian Powell Funeral Directors of Hinsdale handled the arrangements.
