Growth in COVID-19 cases slowing in town

Sixteen Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 15 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported one new case.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 1,330, up from 1,314 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital was treating two confirmed COVID-19 patients and had one patient awaiting test results on Wednesday, a spokeswoman said.

Community Consolidated District 181 reported eight new cases from Feb. 17 to 23, all of whom were students.

Hinsdale High School District 86 reported 12 current positive cases Feb. 19, with 37 people in isolation and 33 in quarantine.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 4.1 percent on Saturday, compared to 4.3 percent a week prior.

Illinois has administered about 2.3 million doses of vaccines, with about 291,000 at long-term care facilities. An average of 55,917 vaccines are being administered daily.
