Barbara Burgoyne Schanck, 88, of Glen Carbon, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away Feb. 2, 2021, in Maryville due to complications from COVID-19.

She was born in 1932 and grew up spending her summers as a child on her grandparents' farm in Fairfield. She would talk about this often and it was one of her favorite childhood memories.

Barbara was an active member of Christ Church of Oak Brook and loved the Lord. She loved to paint, read and travel. She took many amazing trips with her family and friends over the years and especially enjoyed spending her winters in Florida and summers in Maine. Barbara had a soft spot in her heart for animals. Over the years, she donated to several animal rescue organizations regularly. Her final donation was to sponsor a rescue kitten named Petunia that she loved to see pictures of. She enjoyed spending the last few years of her life close to her family in Glen Carbon.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jordan Thomas Schanck.

She is survived by her children, Karen (Brian) Lynch, William (Maureen) Schanck and Rebecca Nelson; her grandchildren, Kaitlin (Michael) Self, Margaret (Jordan) Petry, Jordan Thomas (Kaylyn) Lynch, Abygail Nelson and Ashley Schanck; and her great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Sam, Ben, Beau, Addison and Hannah. A private family graveside service will take place at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Partners 4 Pets, PO Box 445 Troy, IL 62294 or online at https:// http://www.paypal.me/partnersforpets.

Adolf Funeral Home in Willowbrook handled the arrangements.
