Meeting roundup

Community Consolidated District 181

Among other business Monday, board members:

• voted to abate the operating fund in the amount of $311,100 and the bond and interest fund in the amount of $6.44 million. This would save the average Hinsdale home (market value $858,775) $621 in taxes. Rick Engstrom, assistant superintendent of business and operations, told board members the abatement was a credit to sound financial planning. “We’re especially pleased to share the news of an abatement during a time when many families have been financially impacted by the pandemic.”

• learned that Prospect School has been nominated by the Illinois State Board of Education to apply for the esteemed U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools Award. This is the first nomination for Prospect and the ninth for District 181 schools.
