COVID-19 case count continues to climb

Forty-five Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 39 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported six new cases.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 1,231, up from 1,186 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital was treating 13 confirmed COVID-19 patients and had three patients awaiting test results on Wednesday, a spokeswoman said.

Community Consolidated District 181 reported 14 new cases from Jan. 20 to 23, including 11 students, two teachers and one staff member.

Hinsdale High School District 86 reported 10 current positive cases Jan. 22, with 60 people in isolation and 43 in quarantine.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 7.5 percent on Sunday, compared to 8.2 percent a week prior.
