Robert K. Erickson

Robert Kenneth Erickson, 90, a longtime Clarendon Hills resident, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 7, 2020.

He is loved and remembered by his wife and family as "SOB - Sweet Old Bob," "An all-around preeetty, preeetty, preeetty good man," "Evident love and devotion to Bev," "Well-read intellectual and oenophile" and "A grandfather to look up to." A strong, devoted patriarch, he had a wickedly dry sense of humor. He was a world-traveler, a well-informed curator and distributor of news and a connoisseur of ice cream.

He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Willard and Viola Erickson and grew up there as the youngest of three adventurous sons – brothers Donald and Bill. He graduated from University of Minnesota with a degree in journalism and then served during the Korean war as a master sergeant. What followed was a long career in advertising beginning with General Electric and ending as a principal with Donald L. Arends Advertising Agency.

After retirement he continued to travel the world with the love of his life, Beverly Hudy Erickson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Joyce (Mark) Erickson Pitts, Nancy (Kenneth) Brydon Walker and Alice (Kyle) Erickson Johnson; his grandchildren, Logan Erickson Pitts, Erin (Nick) Osberg, Lauren (fiancé Luke Samaras) and Haley and Eric Johnson; his great-grandchildren, Caden and Elle Osberg; and many nieces and nephews.
