Kendall Nicole Pickering, 15, of Hinsdale, died unexpectedly on Dec. 15, 2020.

She was born in 2005 in Hinsdale, where she attended Hinsdale Central High School. Kendall was a very loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, teammate and decorated student-athlete. She excelled both in the classroom and in the swimming pool. Her family and friends described her as a compassionate and encouraging individual who always brought out the best in those around her. She was known for her infectious smile and being mature well beyond her years.

Some of Kendall's favorite times included family vacations to Disney World after her birthday; spending time with her fluffy best friend, Zoey; bike riding around town with her sister, Taylor; and limitless hours spent with her teammates in the swimming pool.

She is survived by her mother, Kim Pickering; her sister, Taylor; her grandparents, William (Bonnie) Reynolds and Joyce Pickering; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A walk-through visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at Adolf Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison St. Willowbrook. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required and a limited number of people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time.

Family and friends will meet for a funeral service with limited seating at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook. Due to current restrictions, the service will be livestreamed at https://www.christchurch.us/kendall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kendall Pickering Legacy Fund, c/o Timothy Theriault, 3624 Salt Creek Circle, Oak Brook, IL 60523 or venmo @kendallpickeringLF.

A celebration of life service will be announced when restrictions have been lifted.
