Increase in COVID-19 cases trending down

Forty-six Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 36 new cases, and the Cook County Health Department reported 10 new cases.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 943, up from 897 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital was treating 15 confirmed COVID-19 patients and had seven patients awaiting test results on Tuesday, a spokeswoman said.

Community Consolidated District 181 reported seven new cases from Dec. 16-18, including three students, two staff members, a teacher and an administrator.

Hinsdale High School District 86 reported 12 current positive cases Dec. 18, with 95 people in isolation and 67 in quarantine.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 10.8 percent on Friday, compared to 11.8 percent a week prior.
