Nicholas Victor Emanuele, 75, of Burr Ridge, passed away Dec. 15, 2020, at Loyola University Medical Center, in the loving presence of his wife and son.

Nicholas was born in 1945 in Chicago, where he attended high school at Loyola Academy, followed by Loyola University Chicago and Northwestern Medical School.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and returned to Chicago afterward.

Nick had a lifelong passion for caring for his patients and research. He worked at Hines VA and Loyola University Medical Center since 1980. He taught generations of medical students and residents the importance of endocrinology and how to manage diabetes. He was an avid Chicago sports enthusiast.

Nick was an adoring husband, loving father and amazing grandfather. He loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his children, Francis (Daniella), Michael (Jennifer), Joseph and Mark (Lindsay); his sister, Vincenzina; and his seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Isabella, Gabriella, Michaela, Tyson, Joseph and Grace.

A private funeral Mass will be said Saturday, Dec. 19, at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Hinsdale.
