COVID-19 count goes up by 70 in Hinsdale

Seventy Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 63 new cases and the Cook County Health Department reported seven new cases.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 897, up from 827 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital was treating 23 confirmed COVID-19 patients and three patients awaiting test results on Wednesday, a spokeswoman said.

Community Consolidated District 181 reported nine new cases from Dec. 9-15, including four students three staff members, a teacher and an administrator.

Hinsdale High School District 86 reported 22 current positive cases Dec. 11, with 85 people in isolation and 89 in quarantine.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 11.6 percent on Saturday, compared to 13.2 percent a week prior.
