Number of new cases of COVID-19 is down

Fifty-four Hinsdale residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The DuPage County Health Department reported 48 new cases and the Cook County Health Department reported six new cases.

That brings the total number of reported cases in the village to 827, up from 773 last week.

Amita Hinsdale Hospital was treating 23 confirmed COVID-19 patients and one patient awaiting test results on Wednesday, a spokeswoman said.

Community Consolidated District 181 reported 16 new cases from Dec. 2-7, including 14 students and two teachers.

Hinsdale High School District 86 reported 28 current positive cases Dec. 4, with 69 people in isolation and 66 in quarantine.

The rolling seven-day positivity rate for Region 8, which includes DuPage County, was 13.2 percent on Saturday, compared to 12.7 percent a week prior.
