Man arrested for felony videotaping three girls

Jose L. Gaspar, 45, 2606 E. St. Charles Road, Bellwood, was arrested May 12 on a felony count of unauthorized videotaping and two felony counts of unauthorized videotaping of a person under 18 for taking photos and video recordings of girls at a house in the 5600 block of South Washington Street last year where he was performing construction work.

According the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, in November, Gaspar, standing outside the home, took dozens of`photographs and video recordings of the homeowner’s 15-year-old and 22-year-old daughters and another 16-year-old girl without their consent while they were showering. When Gaspar’s acquaintances became aware of his actions, they alerted a family member of the girls, who told the girls’ father. He then contacted the Hinsdale Police Department.

“The allegations against Mr. Gaspar are extremely disturbing,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin in a statement. “Fortunately, his alleged actions were uncovered and he now finds himself facing felony charges. I would like to thank the Hinsdale Police Department for their efforts during the investigation of Mr. Gaspar’s alleged actions and for their continued effort in protecting the public. I would also like to thank Assistant State’s Attorney Bridget Carlson for her work in securing charges against Mr. Gaspar.”

Gaspar was taken to DuPage County Jail, and his bond was set at $150,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 8.
