Among other business at their virtual meeting Monday, board members:

• listened to a remote learning update from the department of learning. In April, attendance included 99 to 99.8 percent of students. A recent survey shows more than 85 percent of students find instruction always or usually understandable and 85 percent are able to complete work independently or with some assistance.

• passed a resolution proclaiming May 4-8 as Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week.

“Our teachers and staff spend countless hours preparing lessons, evaluating progress, counseling and coaching students and performing community service,” the resolution reads. “As a community we want to recognize and support our teachers for their outstanding work.”

• agreed to spend $168,000 with Master Project Inc. of Chicago for the Oak School tuckpointing project. Work will begin as soon as possible.
