Burglars hit two drives on Washington Street

Two auto burglaries were reported in the 500 block of North Washington Street during the morning of April 2.

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway between 6 p.m. April 1 and 8 a.m. April 2. At the second residence, two unlocked vehicles parked in the victim’s driveway were entered between 3 p.m. March 22 and 8 a.m. April 2. At both addresses, the suspect rummaged through the interiors, but nothing was reported missing.

Police are reminding residents that most of the burglaries that occur in the village happen in the overnight hours by individuals targeting unlocked vehicles and garages.

Over the last few weeks, Hinsdale police have made significant arrests of offenders who have previously targeted the community. Although the frequency of these crimes has decreased, police say it is important that residents remain vigilant in locking their doors and securing their property.

“We continue to provide proactive overnight patrols in residential neighborhoods,” Police Chief Brian King said. “We ask that residents do their part by locking their property and immediately calling 9-1-1 if they observe suspicious activity.”
